Class Schedules
 -2010/08/21-2010/12/18 Every Saturday from 8am-12pm, Jay van Arsdale teaches Traditional Japanese Hand Tools & Joinery I. Every Sunday from 8:30am-12:30pm, Jay teaches Traditional Hand Tools & Joinery II, Small Yard and Garden Structures, and Special Projects. See the Laney College Fall 2010 Class Schedule.

Jay van Arsdale teaches Japanese woodworking classes at Laney College, Merritt College, and at his shop. His classes cover traditional Japanese woodworking tools and joinery. Basic tools include noko-giri (saws,) nomi (chisels,) kanna (planes,) sumi-sashi (layout pens) and sashigane (squares.) In the introductory classes Jay also covers sharpening. A lot of sharpening. After you've sharpened you tools you can enjoy the hands-on joinery work that's a joy to look at and do, that function as well as you can ask for.

Laney College Fall and Spring Semesters Class Schedule: Saturdays 8am-12pm for introductory class, Sunday 8:30am-12:30pm for advanced classes. To enroll in classes go to Peralta Colleges and follow the direction for new students. The following classes are available:
