Laney College's Japanese Hand Tools II Class: Japanese Gate Project - 2007/03/24

Highlights from today's class:

1 - Lee test fitting a half-dovetail joint.
2 - John carving a rafter.
3, 4, 5, 6 - Jay trimming a tenon for final fitting.
7, 8 - Jason sharpening a plane blade.
9 - Jay checking the angle for the half-dovetail housing.
10, 11, 12, 13 - Manny doing layout.
14, 15
16, 17 - Lee trimming a tenon.
18 - Mortises for a stile.
19, 20, 21, 22 - Jay ripping a piece of wood into small strips which will be used for wedges.
23 - Jim checking the fitting of a mortise.
24 - Donna carving.
25, 26 - Herman scraping a wide plank. Planing didn't work on this plank of wood - we got a lot of tearouts.
